Ratri failed in trying to devise a successful escape plan. He watched his control over the Imperial Capital recede right before his eyes with the homecoming of Duke Leuvis.
Leuvis, apparently risen from the dead, addresses the crowd gathered to witness Sonju and Mujika’s execution. He reveals some of the royal secrets that had allowed the Queen, the royal lineage, and the Ratri clan to rule the demons with an iron fist.
As it turns out, Heathen blood is not infected at all! If demons had shared this blood, there would never have been any need to farm humans.
In the end, Emma blocks Ratri’s path to escape as Ratri understands the full impact of whatever just happened, but does he have another trick up his sleeve?
