Bortus confides in Grayson about his struggles with parenthood and how difficult it’s been in Klyden’s absence. He admits that Topa has a crush on a boy, but she won’t talk to him about it.
He requests Grayson to talk to her about it. Grayson then encourages Topa to confess her feelings.
As it turns out, Topa’s crush is none other than Malloy, who tells her he only sees her as a younger sister.
Admiral Halsey summons Grayson, Mercer, and Bortus regarding a private mission. The Moclans would be making a visit to Heveena’s sanctuary and Halsey intends to send a few Union representatives on-site to ensure everything goes smoothly. He assigns the task to Bortus and Grayson.
Topa asks if she can join them on the journey to Heveena. While Brutus is apprehensive, Grayson asserts that this would be an important experience for her as she’d never seen a female Moclan before. However, things get complicated when Topa gets kidnapped on Heveena’s planet.
