In the present, the crew assembles to discuss an alliance with the matriarchal Janisi and how they can convince them to join the Union.

However, it is common knowledge that the Janisi heavily favor one gender and do not align themselves with anyone who doesn’t share their ideology. They come up with a plan to have the female crew members pose as superiors to win the Janisi’s favor.

Meanwhile, Isaac realizes there are signs of life on a nearby planet that was previously thought of to be deserted. They take a shuttle to the planet to investigate and come across a seemingly desolate ship.

They then come across a Kaylon who can feel, which is a remarkable discovery. Timmis tries to convince Isaac to undergo the same procedure Vilka performed on him, so he too can experience the full spectrum of emotions.
