If you had a Krill-Moclan alliance on your Orville Bingo card, it’s time for you to cash in your prize! Season 3 Ep 9 depicted how the Moclans, once kicked out by the Union, immediately partnered up with the Krills—with no regard for what would happen when the Kaylons strike.
Perhaps that is why the episode has become a fan favorite! But with all of these unexpected alliances bouncing around, many of us are curious about how long the Krill-Moclan relationship will last.
The Orville S3 Ep 9 ends with the Union arresting Krill Chancellor Teleya, putting the Krills and the Moclans at a huge disadvantage. While the two species may continue their alliance, they won’t be able to fight or defeat the Union.
Let’s do a small recap of the chaotic but extremely commendable Ep 9: We have the Moclan-Krill alliance against the Union-Kaylon alliance. Then Admiral Perry’s betrayal escalates into a full-on battle. In the end, the Union is able to destroy the Kaylon weapon and arrest Teleya.
With Teleya’s arrest, the Krills are at a big disadvantage and are no longer a threat to the Union. Even their alliance with the Moclans (who would provide them with ammunition) is futile since they have no plan to fall back on.
With no brains behind the operation, the Krills and Moclans have no way to flip the situation. So, while I think they may still remain allies, they need a new leader to guide them in Teleya’s absence, or at least even, strategize a plan to get her back.
It is possible that Ep 10 will depict such a negotiation since we know that the matter of her and Ed’s daughter, Anaya, also needs to be resolved.
Now one of the reasons the Moclan-Krill alliance was so absurd, is because any peaceful alliance with the Krills is absurd. They’re not really known to be cooperative folks or even ones that tolerate other species. If the Moclans are no longer useful to them, they might dump them, or worse.
On the other hand, the Moclans were never really that happy with having Teleya, a female, as the leader. So, they might see her disposal as a good thing and even try to elect one of their own as the leader of the new alliance. Again, while they have all the weaponry in the universe, they still need the manpower and skill that they can take from the Krills.
But to be honest, I’d prefer if the Moclans run away with their tails between their legs. It’s what they deserve.
