This Summer Game Fest couldn’t have gone any better for fans of the beloved The Last of Us franchise. Besides giving an update on the much-awaited successor to the Factions multiplayer mode, Naughty Dog has also revealed The Last of Us remake for PlayStation 5.
The original Last of Us is one of the few cherished projects that fans and critics love. Many enthusiasts, from time to time, keep revisiting this masterpiece of a game that was launched nine years ago, and why shouldn’t they? Everything’s so beautiful, from the plot to the gameplay, that it leaves a mark on you.
Due to this never-dying popularity that the title has amassed, Naughty Dog confirmed that it was working on creating a TLOU remake that fully utilizes the capabilities of current-gen technologies.
Thankfully today, during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, the studio gave us its preview along with a release date.
Called The Last of Us Part 1, the remake of 2013’s Last of Us will release on September 2, 2022, for PS5 users. Announcing the game, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann said that it has been built from scratch and features modernized gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options.
Moreover, it’s also worth mentioning that The Last of Us Part 1 will include the Left Behind DLC that debuted eight months after the original game’s arrival. Unfortunately, the much-beloved Factions mode hasn’t made the cut and won’t be a part of the remake when it launches.
While the current-gen facelift is going to leave many pleased, perhaps an even bigger takeaway from the announcement is that The Last of Us Part 1 is being developed for PC as well and will roll out sometime in the future.
This means that both PC and PS5 players will soon be able to dive into a game that immerses you through its revamped effects, enhanced exploration, and combat, all while having the original elements that made it so great.
