After Episode 2 ended with Serena baiting June, it would be hard to imagine a ferocious and protective mother like June simply sitting still. She immediately plans to return to Gilead or at least get a message to her daughter Hannah.
But apart from the disconcerting fact that Nick is longer her ally and has taken a wife and the obligations that come with having a family, June even learns Hannah is being trained to become a future wife.
And when she finds she can intercept Serena on the widow’s return to Canada, her threatening demeanor only spells dangerous times for the upcoming episodes.
1. Episode 4 Synopsis/Speculation
Episode 3 brought much to the table, from the shattering of June’s could-have-been in Canada and Serena’s removal from Gilead. But these cunning women have their eyes set on their goals, and the next episode will definitely see them making their moves to get what they want.
The survival of Esther may spell even more troubling times for the young handmaid, and her fate at the hands of Aunt Lydia will be explored in Episode 4.
With Serena and June in Canada, we may see more close-range battles between the two women standing on opposite sides of the war for Gilead’s freedom.
After the big reveal of Hannah being trained to be a wife without any knowledge of her mother trying to rescue her, Episode 4 will likely focus on Hannah and the ongoing troubles of the dystopian city.

5. Episode 3 Recap
After baiting June with Hannah in purple robes on the TV broadcast during Waterford’s funeral, Serena heads for Gilead while June plans to return to the source of her trauma too.
Moira informs June there is a gathering of illegally armed women at the edge of No Man’s Land who could help her get inside Gilead or at least send a message to Nick who’d help her come back. Serena plans to sit at the Gilead council to reinstate herself in Fred’s stead.
But both of their plans don’t go as they thought. Serena is labeled an unofficial ambassador of Gilead and has her own staff and protection team but must return to Canada. And June grows more distrustful of the movement at the edge of No Man’s Land and learns Nick will no longer be able to help her in her fight.
June finds the purple robes Hannah wore signify her training to become a future wife and rushes to intercept Serena as she returns to Canada. She makes a scary view, swinging a slasher and banging on Serena’s window, threatening her to stay away from her daughter.
6. About The Handmaid’s Tale
The Handmaid’s Tale is an American dystopian television series created by Bruce Miller for Hulu. It is based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name.
Set in the fictional dystopian state of Gilead, where fertile women are kept as “handmaids” and are subjected to child-bearing slavery, the series Offred (June Osbourne) and her fight for her freedom from Gilead, along with all the oppressed.
The series has covered four seasons worth of runtime, and the fifth season will premiere on Hulu on 14 September 2022.
