Hakushon Daimao (The Genie Family) is an old-time Japanese TV Anime that initially aired from 1969 to 1970. Produced by Tatsunoko Production House and Directed by Hiroshi Sasagawa, the anime produced a total of 52 episodes. A cross over the film, Pandora to Akubi, aired on 5th April 2019.
Tatsunoko Production announced on 1st January 2020 that the anime will return with a new television anime adaptation in spring 2020. The new anime will premiere on YTV.
The TV show will hit its 50th anniversary in October 2020. During this period, it inspired quite an array of media. It was the inspiration for two 26-episode-long spinoff series, titled Yobarete Tobedete! Akubi-chan and Akubi Girl, both revolved around the daughter of the original Genie, Akubi-chan. The anime-inspired a live-action special in 2013 and a crossover film between The Genie Family and Monster Strike in 2019.

Hiroshi Sasagawa directed the Hakushon Daimaō anime from 1969-1970, and the anime will mark its 50th anniversary in October. The anime-inspired a spinoff series titled Yobarete Tobidete Akubi-chan in 2001, and this show, in turn, had a sequel in 2001. The anime also inspired a live-action special in 2013.

About Hakushon Daimao:
The Japanese TV Anime revolved around a family and their adventures with a genie named Hakushon and his daughter named Akubi. Kan, the child in the family, discovers an old bottle which contains the father-daughter genie duo. On sneezing, Hakushon appears granting the wish of the person who sneezed and on yawning, Akubi appears granting the wish of the person who yawned. Having a wish granted is always a gamble as Hakushon messes up the wishes due to his clumsiness. At the same time, Akubi twists the words of the wish to make something mischievous happen.
