Mundane Mann continues to raise suspicions in episode 16 of The Eminence in Shadow, titled “Unseen Intentions.”

As the tournament continues and Cid makes his persona Mundane Mann even more suspicious, the crowd continues to be even more excited for the underdog. Annerose begins getting more cynical and even tries to imitate the man, all according to his plan.

Rose is still on the run and manages to evade ambush attacks and constant chase by guards and people of the church; whether she will survive is all up to luck now.

Episode 17 Speculation

Mundane Mann moves on to the main competition, and thus he will begin to show off a little more, and people will also start understanding that this is not just pure luck at this point and the guy is hiding his power.

Annerose will likely have to face him in battle too, and that will be a sight to see as Cid shows off to his full extent to get the validation of the entire audience. Meanwhile, Rose will likely get captured soon, as the pressure is too much.

Recap of Episode 16

Beta reports to Alexia, and there is much discussion on Rose’s trial and possibly even the death sentence. She is currently on the run. She also deduces the motive behind the act as well as plays innocent when her persona is questioned.

Beta says she will look into the matter and see if she can find something. Meanwhile, Princess Alexia goes to find information by herself from her sister. The tournament continues as Cid watches on from the sidelines.

His gambler friend is panicking over the number of losses he keeps stacking up, and Cid encounters a warrior searching for an elf who immediately starts questioning him about it. He lies to her, and she directly goes to attack him.

He manages to hide his strength from her and manages to keep himself still undercover. Quinton and the other elite warriors look on to watch Mundane Mann’s match; they try and figure out what went on in the alleyway the previous day.

Goldy is up to fight against him and has never lost a fight before since he never fights with anyone that could beat him. Mundane Mann dodges his attack and counters swiftly, utterly unseen to the average eye.

Goldy manages to back off right in time. He gets emotional and angry at Cid for taking this so lightly and unleashes his true power in a considerable magic blow, barely even landing as Mundane Mann immediately sends him to the floor.

Perv Asshat and Iris discuss as they go over what has happened. The majesty seems to be under his control entirely as he leaves everything to him, much to Iris’s disapproval.

Mundane Mann manages to make it through to the main tournament and scoffs through them all as he takes off weights in front of Annerose tauntingly. She tries to show him the neck crack, but he just needs clarification.

We see Rose on the run and ambushed but manages to counter and run for it, leaving security guards in the mist.

The Eminence in Shadow, a manga by Daisuke Aizawa, started serialization in 2018. It is scheduled to receive an anime in October 2022. An anime film, titled ‘The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes,’ was announced in December 2023.

Cid, the protagonist, is obsessed with becoming a hidden mastermind. Being reincarnated in an isekai world gives him the chance to act on his wishes and build up his power beyond the notice of people.

After rescuing an elf, he forms a squad who are supposed to fight the Diabolos cult which is just a figment of his imagination. However, the cult turns out to be true and now he actually has an enemy to face.
