Ichikawa and Yamada finally reach the critical point of their relationship in episode 12 of The Dangers in My Heart, titled “I Want You to Know Me.”
The new year’s traditions start with his family’s visit to the temple, but he also accidentally double-books the day for a date with Yamada. She reaches early as usual and gets spotted by his parents and sister and joins them for the entire shrine visit.
After their prayers, Ichikawa’s sister decides to be helpful for once and invites Yamada to their home while their parents are not there, and she gladly accepts. Once they reach home, however, she makes an excuse to get them both alone.

Episode 13 Speculation
Season 2 of The Dangers in My Heart will continue following the relationship of Ichikawa and Yamada and will likely put a label on it too. They have been shying around the label this entire season and also hiding it from their classmates, but this will all come to an end in the next cour.
The current part of The Dangers in My Heart has ended its run. However, Shin-Ei Animation has announced that the anime will return with a second season in January 2024.
Considering the popularity of the anime so far, we can expect an equally well-done adaptation for the next season which will stream on HIDIVE and Bilibili.

Recap of Episode 12
As the new year rolls around, Ichikawa visits the temple with his family as per tradition and plans to do the same thing with Yamada in half an hour. However, she is early as usual, and her family immediately recognizes her waiting for him and checking herself in the mirror constantly.
However, she spots him from afar, runs to meet him, and introduces herself to his family. She joins them on the temple visit, and Ichikawa is highly awkward about it. Still, Yamada continues to make moves regardless, and they eventually get to walk alone on the way back.
After parting ways, Ichikawa and his sister make an excuse and run from the family to return to Yamada, who immediately starts feasting on the stalls. The three-start walking back to Ichikawa’s house, which Yamada is super excited to visit, much to his awkwardness.
She brings out some ramen for the guest and makes a friendly conversation about nicknames and such, which somehow ends in them teasing Ichikawa. His sister makes an excuse to leave them alone and leaves the house only after reaching a new level of friendship with Yamada.
Ichikawa finds them alone in the house together, takes her into his room, and shows some yearbook photos from camping with his old friends before they moved. She also spots books about his niche interests and expresses her interest in them before running out of the room before it gets too intense.
Waking up to another dream of his past, Ichikawa gets a lift to the station for another school day, and the first one he sees is Yamada. Exchanging the dog keychains for both of them to wear, he recalls all the events and everything that has happened this year and how far their relationship has come.
Finally, having someone to genuinely talk to about whatever, he expresses his thanks to Yamada. Getting a hug in return, they run back to class together.
About The Dangers in My Heart
The Dangers in My Heart manga by Norio Sakurai was launched in March 2018. It is licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
The manga focuses on Kyotaro, a school kid who thinks he is messed up because he often thinks violently about his classmates. Just as he plans how to stab the class’ popular girl, she notices him.
Anna, the girl in question, is pretty weird herself, and Kyotaro gets to know her odd nature as they get closer.
