The Crown: Popular Netflix Show Won’t Release Season 5 Anytime Soon

The clash of Netflix’s release schedule with Queen Elizabeth’s death has become a big headache for the streaming giant ahead of the release of The Crown season 5 and a documentary starring the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex.

The lion’s share of the UK audience thinks that releasing The Crown, season 5, just after Queen Elizabeth’s demise is inappropriate.

It is heightened even more because season 5 is predicted to focus on the not-so-glittery troubles of the royal family in the 1990s.

Jonathan Dimbleby, a celebrated commentator, and friend of the new King, commented:

I don’t have patience with that kind of garbage.

The new season devotes a lot of time throwing light on the nuances of the divorce of Prince Charles from the Princess of Wales. Queen Elizabeth is reportedly shown to be a helpless figure in the entire fiasco.

Another major problem is that, like any other docuseries, Netflix has introduced many anomalies for dramatic effect. These can have significant consequences now that Prince Charles is on the verge of becoming the King.

Sally Bedell, a biographer of Prince Charles, pointed out the inaccuracies and commented:

“The consequences of inaccuracies are greater now that he is the monarch.”

Jemina Khan, a filmmaker with strong ties with the royal circle, was attached as a consultant to The Crown. She told the Sunday Times that she had reportedly asked for her name to be struck off from the credit list of the show.

We worked together on the outline and scripts from September 2020 until February 2021. When our co-writing agreement was not honored, and when I realized that particular storyline would not necessarily be told as respectfully or compassionately as I had hoped, I requested that all my contributions be removed from the series, and I declined a credit.

Also, Netflix must decide when to launch its much-hyped documentary detailing the lives of Prince Harry and Megan.

The initial plan was to release the title with The Crown in December. But it has been reported that the royal couple has requested final changes, edits to the script, and even a change in the release date.

On top of this, the filmmakers have reportedly become perplexed by the inconsistency of Prince Harry’s recent remarks about the plot of his soon-to-be-published memoir.

The memoir was supposed to release this autumn but has reportedly been delayed.
