Conjuring 4 Officially Confirmed with Original Screenwriters Returning

Conjuring 4 has officially been confirmed, and the screenwriters of the first two installments have also been selected to write the screenplay.

The Conjuring universe is a household name for all the horror movie buffs out there. The franchise has expanded to include movies like Anabelle, The Nun, and The Curse of La Llorona.

All three films of the core series involve the two protagonists, Ed, and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), as they hop from one place to another in their quest to investigate the paranormal realm.

The films are known to send shockwaves in the horror genre with every new release. But that reputation has been slowly getting deflated over the years. The announcement of Conjuring 4 might just be the saving grace which will revive the franchise’s popularity.

According to Deadline, Conjuring 4 has already been confirmed by screenwriter David Lesley Johnson-McGoldrick. We don’t have much information about the plot, but the production team has been decided and it will include Peter Safran and James Gunn.

The canon series consists of three films. The original Conjuring took place in 1970 and followed the horrendous past of a ghastly doll in a secluded farmhouse.

The 2016 sequel follows a haunted house infested by a poltergeist. Protagonists Ed and Lorraine investigate the house, and Lorraine realizes it is the same house she saw in a vision a year back.

The last entry, The Devil Made me do it, deals with saving a young man from demonic possession.

The Conjuring franchise has been going through a rough patch for some time now. The Conjuring: The Devil Made me do it performed averagely at the box office by the franchise’s lofty standards. It was due to many factors, like the onset of the pandemic and a mass switch from big screens to streaming platforms.

Non-canon sequels like The Crooked Man and The Nun 2, promised by the franchise, were also significantly delayed.

However, luck seems to have taken a turn for the good here. The announcement of Conjuring 4 and the work going on with The Nun 2 might just give the franchise a push in the right direction.

This is undoubtedly good news for the fans of The Conjuring Universe, and things are looking way brighter than before.
