Eric Kripke Reveals The Boys Season 4 Episode 1 Title on Twitter

The Boys Season 3 wrapped up on Prime Video in the first week of July 2022. The superhero TV series was renewed for Season 4 just a month before that. Production was estimated to begin by the end of August, and right on time, Eric Kripke revealed the title for the first episode of Season 4 to celebrate the first day of shooting.

The Boys, based on comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has climbed to one of the most highly watched series on the streaming platform. The series shines a light on the dark side of the superheroes and their managing company Vought, who The Boys vow to take down.

Through the seasons, the show has recreated many scenes from the comics, some down to the last detail, like Season 3’s most famous “Herogasm” episode, which depicted a covert mission to kill Homelander in a giant superhero orgy.

The show has previously titled its episodes word-to-word from the comic’s issues, like Herogasm” and “Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker,” but some titles like “The Only Man in the Sky” have been the show’s original marking.

The show has made some changes from the comics in the previous seasons, like Stormfront’s gender Swap, Soldier Boy’s list of powers, and Homelander’s son Ryan living to grow up and fall in Homelander’s shadow.

Now, Eric Kripke, the showrunner, has taken to Twitter to celebrate the first day of shooting for Season 4 by sharing an image of the script cover that has revealed the title for the first episode of Season 4 as “Department of Dirty Tricks.”

The name suggests the episode will center on Victoria Neuman’s Vice President candidacy and how she plans to further her secret superhuman goals through shady dealings under the seal of the Government. The episode title could also suggest the involvement of Grace Mallory, Butcher and the rest of The Boys’ long-time ally, last seen protecting Ryan from Homelander.

Of course, many episode plots in the repertoire of The Boys have had no connection to the titles, so we just might get to see something else entirely. Karl Urban’s recent Instagram post confirmed Jensen Ackles and Jack Quaid’s return to Season 4 as Billy Butcher, Hugh Campbell, and Soldier Boy.

The Season 3 finale had laid a bleak outcome for Billy Butcher in the upcoming season, who only has a few months to live due to his continuous intake of the V-24. With Season 4’s filming beginning in August 2022, we can expect the show to return with the new season in the second half of 2023.

About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
