How ‘Big Bang Theory’ Predicted Sheldon’s Blunder in ‘Young Sheldon’ S6 Finale

Sheldon does something terrible to Missy in the last episode of Young Sheldon season 6, but it’s not a shocker since it was already foreshadowed more than four years ago and also in Big Bang Theory.

The young prodigy often messes up because he doesn’t understand social cues. However, he usually gets away with it since the people around him are aware of his flaws. That includes Missy, who has been mostly kind and tolerant to him over the years.

In the final two episodes of Young Sheldon season 6, however, Sheldon has finally gone too far with Missy.

Missy has been the most patient and mature Cooper kid for years, but she turned into a troublemaker in season 6.

She tries to escape and drive to Florida with Paige by stealing George’s truck and is caught.

The appearance of Pastor Jeff’s niece, Tonya, somehow makes her more defiant. They finally manage to sneak out at night without getting caught — until Sheldon sees them and snitches on them in the last episode of season 6.

Missy is rightly angry when Sheldon rats her out, especially since Mary and George hardly pay attention to her problems about constantly feeling left out.

To be fair, the young prodigy’s decision to spill the beans about her mischief is based on his worry for her. Missy begs him to stay quiet, and Sheldon, too, tries hard to hide his sister’s mischief.

However, we know that Sheldon’s inability to keep secrets is a big fault in his character, which eventually comes out in the season finale.

In 2018’s Young Sheldon season 2, episode 4, “A Financial Secret and Fish Sauce,” Sheldon does the Coopers’ taxes and finds a mysterious expense. He asks George about it, and his dad begs him to ignore the difference.

Sheldon tries really hard to protect his dad from trouble. Knowing that he can’t lie to Mary’s face, he even has his first sleepover at Tam’s house so that he doesn’t have to face her.

However, he spills everything out in the end, concluding that Sheldon Cooper just cannot keep a secret! This is not new for Sheldon fans, as he shows the same flaw in The Big Bang Theory.

In season 2, episode 1, “The Bad Fish Paradigm,” he fails to keep Penny’s secret about her doubts about dating Leonard. In season 3, episode 20, “The Spaghetti Catalyst,” he also proves that he is terrible at lying.

In conclusion, The ‘Sheldon Franchise’ (if we can call it that) has always been criticized for its lack of continuity in its characters and events, but Sheldon’s inability to lie is definitely not one of them!
