On reaching the palace, Arthur told them everything that had happened to him after his family had been attacked by slave traders. He left out the part related to Sylvia as it wasn’t quite relevant. Sylvia’s parents were quite furious about Tessia’s involvement with slave traders, and they also found it hard to believe that Arthur had killed them, but they chose not to delve into that temporarily.
Arthur then asked the king if he could be taken to his home, as he wanted to reunite with his family. While this was the bare minimum they could do for someone who had saved their daughter, it was shocking to see the king treat Arthur’s request as a burden, but he obliged after his daughter pouted. The same night, Arthur had continuous pain in his mana core, but he bore with it. Later, he met up with Tessia, who came to chat with him. Amid their interaction, they were attacked by Tessia’s grandfather, who wanted to test Arthur’s skills.
They had a pretty good sparring session in which Arthur actually managed to land an attack on the man. Given that he was small, it was only natural that his attacks didn’t pack much weight, but Tessia’s grandfather was still impressed. He asked Arthur to be his apprentice, and even promised him that he would inform his parents about his well-being. As Arthur considered this, he had a sudden pang of pain in his mana core, which was when Tessia’s grandfather realised something about his condition.
