Nishikata and Takagi’s Tom and Jerry style fighting has kept fans entertained for three seasons of Teasing Master Takagi-san. This time, the franchise is looking to better the experience with an upcoming film that looks quite promising.
It is already apparent that both the children like each other, so in the new film you can definitely expect another confession in the new film. Although, I fear Nishikata will blow over his chance once again with his adorable dumbness.
The new Teasing Master Takagi-san anime movie will premiere on June 10, 2022, in Japan. Since Funimation streams the anime’s three seasons, it might license the film for North American countries, which could typically take two to three months.
The latest trailer has finally given some pointers on what Takagi and Nishikata will face in the movie, and I assure you, it’s a 10/10 on the cuteness scale.
Both the protagonists are in the final year of middle school in the film, and the thought of future studies and careers is giving them anxiety. (Me too, kids, me too.)
On their final day of summer vacation, the chibi couple finds a lost cat. They name it ‘Hana’ since it loves flowers (Hana means flowers in Japanese). They decide to keep the cat until they find its mother.
The trailer shows Takagi and Nishikata slowly getting closer over the vacation while taking care of the kitten together. A particularly worrying scene also shows them trying to find the kitten, meaning that it will get lost or taken. Can these middle schoolers find little Hana again?
“Hajimari no Natsu,” the opening theme song of the movie by Yuiko Ōhara, has also been previewed in the teaser.
Teasing Master Takagi-san has delivered solid blows of comedy and slice-of-life over the years and I am expecting no less from the new movie. So let’s hope that the duo can finally get over their rivalry, and raise keep the cat.

Teasing Master Takagi-san is a manga series written and illustrated by Sōichirō Yamamoto. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’ Monthly Shōnen Sunday Mini and then in Monthly Shōnen Sunday since 2013.
The series follows the daily life of Takagi, who loves to tease her classmate Nishikata, and Nishikata’s failed attempts to get back at her. Each time Nishikata fails he vows to come up with new plans but Takagi often identifies his weakness and capitalizes on them.
