Studio Silver Link. Merges with Subsidiary Studio Connect

Animation Studios are the pillars of the Japanese animation industry. Animes would not be possible with these studios spending countless hours on drawing and animating them.

The first animation studio of importance was Toei Animations, founded in 1948. Since then, many such studios have come up and brought all our favorite mangas, light novels, and games to life.

Silver Link. is an animation studio founded by producer Hayato Kaneko in December 2007.

The studio based in Tokyo has been responsible for many popular titles like Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry, Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku and Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya Movie: Sekka no Chikai.

Silver Link established studio Connect as its subsidiary in April 2012. While most of its significant works like Monster Strike and Strike The Blood are with its parent company.

Studio Connect has also done various solo projects like Strike The Blood III, Senryu Girl, and Oresuki.

National Printing Bureau’s Kanpou (the Japanese government’s official gazette) revealed in its 150th issue that Studio Silver Link. had merged with its subsidiary Studio Connect on July 17, 2020.

It was revealed that Silver Link. will completely absorb Studio Connect and take over the rights and obligations of CONNECT, dissolving the studio.

While the merger has been completed, Studio Silver Link will retain its original name, and no changes will be seen in the company’s title.

Studio Silver Link also announced that the merger wouldn’t affect the status of its subcontracting studio Beep, which will remain its subsidiary.

National Printing Bureau’s Kanpou published the financial statements of both companies.

The report established that the final loss of SILVER LINK. for the fiscal year ended November 2019 was 24.97 million yen while Studio Connect made a final profit of 3.25 million yen for the fiscal year ending March 2020.

While not many reasons were provided for the merger, the difference in financial statements can be speculated to be the most significant reason behind the move.

With the merger’s announcement, fans can expect that Strike the Blood’s fourth installment produced by Connect will be taken over by Studio Silver Link.
