At the end of Moon Knight Episode 3, Khonshu was trapped into a stone seal by the other Egyptian gods, because he manipulated the sky and called on unwanted attention. Of course, the reason he did this was to help Steven find the coordinates to Ammit’s grave using astronavigation.
I’m not going to lie, despite acting like an absolute prick, Khonshu has grown on me and it has led me to wonder if we’ll see him in the next episode.
In the trailer for Moon Knight Episode 4, Steven/Marc have their suits and powers back. Since they only have access to these by being Khonshu’s vessel and having an active connection with him, it points to the fact that Khonshu has broken out of his stone seal entrapment.
We see Khoshu in only one scene in this trailer. But Steven appearing in the forefront of that very scene with his eyes glowing white is a big clue about him breaking Khonshu out of his stone seal.
Other affirmations of the same are that Marc is once again back in his Moon Knight suit. We know that Steven/Marc cannot use any of Khonshu’s powers without having an active connection, so it’s safe to assume that Khonshu won’t be trapped for too long.
Since the trailer also contains clips from the previous episodes, it’s possible that some clips are from future episodes, not necessarily Episode 4. Even then, if Khonshu isn’t broken out of his seal in the next episode, he will be soon enough.
Where is Khonshu right now?
Let’s start from the basics—all the Egyptian gods including Khonshu are already confined to a pocket dimension called the “Overvoid.” In the comic books, it’s known by other names like Othervoid, Heliopolis, etc.
This means that the gods are not really affected by events happening on Earth, with the flip side being that they cannot execute their full powers on Earth, either. In fact, the best way they can use their powers is through their avatars.
That brings us to where Khonshu is as of the end of Moon Knight Episode 3. We see the gods perform a ritual that “traps” him in a stone seal. But what they’re actually doing is severing his connection to Earth, for which the seal acts as a physical form of the barrier. So Khonshu is still in the Overvoid… he’s just getting a time-out.
Khonshu also implied that Marc knows how to break him out of his seal, which means that not only will he return to the show but we may also see how Marc became the Fist of Khonshu in the first place.
