After almost five years of gamers and fans urging Square Enix for another part of Star Ocean, we finally have some good news from the company.
The action role-playing game has been popular among the gamer community for various reasons, especially its gameplay and visuals. The game is back with another installment consisting of stunning playable characters and a story that makes you want to spend days playing it.
Fans have been going out of their minds as soon as Square Enix announced it, and honestly, I understood why they would act like that after watching the trailer.
Square Enix revealed Star Ocean: The Divine Force for 2022 as the latest installment of its Star Ocean series developed by it and tri-Ace.
The game will be released across platforms like PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
The game will feature dual protagonists for the first time since Star Ocean: The Second Story. Both the protagonists will belong to different worlds, a science-fiction one and a fantasy one. Players will be able to navigate between the two smoothly.
The trailer starts with Astoria’s brutal attack and Ray abandoning the Ydas. We’re then shown the entire gameplay and visuals from Ray’s point of view and are also introduced to Laeticia.
The story is set 46 years after Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness in 583 SD. What’s more, is that the Pan Galactic Federation is now engulfing planets by force, and the only one that stands undefeated is Verguld.
The first protagonist is Raymond from the sci-fi world, the captain of the merchant space vessel Ydas. After being attacked by the battleship Astoria, Ray is forced to abandon Ydas and flee in an escape pod with crewmate Chloe.
They coincidentally crashland on Aster IV, where he is saved by the other protagonist, crown princess Laeticia of the kingdom Aucerius. They form a pact that Ray will help Laeticia save the kingdom from Vey’l Empire, and in return, the crown princess will help Ray find Chloe, who went missing after the escape pod.
The game’s visuals looked enticing, and the characters seemed pretty interesting too. I am sure I will be having a hard time choosing which one to play.
Also, did I mention that the player’s choices will affect the outcome? I suggest you better start preparing for it.
