If sci-fi and psychological thrillers are your jam, Netflix’s upcoming release Spiderhead starring Chris Hemsworth must excite you. Alongside Hemsworth, popular faces including Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett will also be seen in the film.
Spiderhead is all set to release on June 17, 2022, on Netflix. Here’s everything we know about the film as of now.
What is Spiderhead about?
The film is an adaptation of a New Yorker short story, Escape from Spiderhead by George Saunders. The story is about an exceptional visionary, Steve Abnesti, who runs a correctional facility. In this facility, the inmates are allowed to shorten their sentences by participating in drug trials for mind-changing substances.
These incarcerated inmates are free to be themselves. However, two inmates, Jeff and Lizzie form an unlikely connection and this causes a twist in their path to redemption. To see what happens next, we have to wait for the film.
In an exclusive clip, we can see Abnesti administering a new drug to Jeff and Lizzie. In the beginning, the two subjects aren’t getting along but slowly, the effect of the drug sets in and the two form a strong bond.
We can expect many such trials in the film and how Abnesti’s experiments actually affect the subjects, and find out how Jeff and Lizzie are different.
After Top Gun: Maverick ruled the box office by grossing over $500 million, Spiderhead is Joseph Kosinski’s next film, and from the trailer, it does seem quite promising.
