Spider-Verse Director Confirms Threequel and Discloses Villain

Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse was already split into two parts, so the main villain would have plenty of screen time. As confirmed in October 2022, The Spot was revealed as the sequel’s main villain, a villain suited for animation. Now Kemp Powers, co-director of the Spider-Verse films, confirms the threequel and discloses the film’s main villain.

And guess what? Miles and Spot’s fight must have dire consequences since Powers just confirmed that the main villain would not change, and Spot will go up against Morales again in Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse.

What threat Spot poses to the multiverse remains unknown, but his powers explain how the spider-people have ways to interact despite being from different universes. The Spot can use the spots glued on him as portals to other dimensions and control the portal’s location, size, and matter.

Powers disclosed Spot would return as the main villain in the third Spider-Verse film in an interview with Total Film (via Games Radar). The director also teased a “surprising” connection between our protagonist, Miles, and the long-running antagonist, Spot.

The Spot is an interesting villain because he seems like a joke, but when you really look at his powers, there’s incredible potential. His ability to open portals across dimensions sets him up perfectly for the Spider-Verse. He’s the villain of the subsequent two films, and let’s just say that Spot and Miles are connected in surprising ways.

Spot keeping his spot (pun intended) as the main villain in both films highlights how the storylines will connect throughout Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse Part One & Two and Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse. He must be a force worth reckoning, considering Miles will have to rally his fellow spider-people to take him down.

Miles Morales, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Gwen are set to return for the sequel and threequel. Other new cast additions include MCU’s own Oscar Isaac and Daniel Kaluuya joining as Spider-man 2099 and Spider-Punk, respectively.

The first trailer for Spider-man Across the Spider-Verse will drop any day now, so are you ready to join Miles and Gwen in their latest adventure?
