Spider-Man Remastered has finally hit the PC market this week, living up to its hype. The originally PS4 exclusive was announced to come to PC stores months ago and was even up for pre-orders for some time.
It was assumed that the game would run through Steam or Epic Game Store, depending on where users bought it. Adding a game to PC means that the game files are open for data miners to pry into, and they indeed have found some dirt on Sony’s future plans.
Files for the PlayStation PC Launcher have been found, suggesting that Sony might be working on its own launcher. This could add PlayStation Network Integration to Sony’s PC games, which they don’t possess as of now.
The files reference “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements” multiple times, hinting that users will get rewards for linking their PC and PSN accounts. Looks like Sony will launch all its games on PC through this launcher, much like Ubisoft, Rockstar, and Activision Blizzard.
This would be very beneficial when online multiplayer games are released, as they obviously require some type of login, so why not log in to your Sony account on your Sony game, rather than Microsoft/Epic/Steam?
Sony has released some of its most popular PS exclusives on PC, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God Of War, Days Gone, and I must say it has made huge profits as well as won an immense fanbase at the same time. It also has just put up an official webpage that is dedicated to PlayStation games available on PC.
