Spider-Man NWH Mid-Credit and End-Credit Scenes Explained

SPOILERS AHEAD! This page contains spoilers from Spoilers .

I hope you sat right through till the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home because the movie had two post-credits scenes. The mid-credits scene is with Eddie Brock and Venom, while the end-credit scene is a whole teaser for Doctor Strange 2.

Let’s break it down!

Mid-Credits Scene: Venom is in the MCU!

I. Connection with Venom 2’s Post-Credit Scene

Last we saw Eddie and Venom, they were spending a bromantic vacation at a tropical paradise when an invisible event interrupts their bliss. They find themselves in a different room from what they were in, only a second ago.

But it’s not just the room that’s changed — Eddie and Venom, like many of the other Spider-verse characters, have just entered the MCU. Now we know this is all courtesy of Strange’s messed-up spell.

NWH’s mid-credits scene picks up a few days after Venom 2’s post-credit Scene. It shows Eddie in the same tropical outfit in a bar trying to decode this new world. His ponderings are quite amusing — What is a Hulk? And no, aliens do not like colorful gems, ask Venom.

Eddie’s drunk conclusion? He really needs to meet this web-slinger from Queens because Venom seems to recognize him.

II. Setting up Spider-Man x Venom

Spider-Man x Venom

Sadly for us all, Eddie poofs back into his own universe before we can get any further explanation. But he does leave behind some icky black goo.

My only guess is that the goo is either the inception of an MCU-version of Venom, or it is simply a plot device Sony and Marvel can use when they’re finally ready to have their Spider-Man x Venom crossover.

Both Venom 3 and a new Spider-Man trilogy have been greenlit, so the possibility is rock-solid.

III. Plot Hole in Venom’s NWH scene

If you haven’t been thinking about why Eddie was brought to the MCU in the first place, it’s time to start. As Strange explained, the folks from the other multiverses were all people who knew Spider-man.

Does Spider-Man exist in Eddie’s universe, and he doesn’t know him or/and met him yet? As far as we know, Eddie has not had any encounters with Peter. But given Venom’s ginormous cosmic lifespan and hivemind data, it is possible that he may have encountered a version of Spider-Man (or more!)

2.  End-Credits Scene: Multitude of Madness Teaser is Here!

In what I think is Marvel’s first, the post-credits scene is, in fact, a trailer! This is our first peep at Doctor Strange and the Multitude of Madness, and boy, did we get a full scoop of awesome!

I. The Multiverse Chaos is Far From Over

As he is trying to figure out who is the cause of this new chaos, Strange repeats his words from NWH — “We know frighteningly little about the multiverse.”

These are the snippets that play in succession: Wong trying to hold down a spell, a first look at Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, Rachel getting married (and it’s not to Strange!), and the appearance of Shuma-Gorath.

Then we finally get Strange approaching Wanda in a field, the latter who has taken to a secluded living after the events of WandaVision. He questions her expertise in the multiverse, asking for her help.

II.  Karl Mordo Makes Good on His Promise

After Karl Mordo learns that the Ancient One has been dabbling into the dark arts and Strange’s own rule-breaking, he decides that magic is ruining the course of nature, especially with some sorcerers using it for frivolous purposes.

It is great to see Chiwetel Ejiofor reprise his role as Mordo, who has vowed to rid the world of magic. He is back as promised and mocks Strange by saying he is the biggest threat to himself… But what if he also means it literally?

III. Welcome, Doctor Strange Supreme!

From the animated realms of What If…? dark Doctor Strange is brought to life on the silver screens. This has got to be the biggest reveal of the movie yet! Is he going to be an absolute menace alongside Mordo, or will he have yet another redemptive arc? I can’t wait to find out!

Plus, if you thought the cameos for No Way Home were insane, just hold onto your hats for Doctor Strange and the Multitude of Madness.

The good news is that the Doctor Strange 2 teaser is just around the corner!
