Frieren and Fern fight Frieren’s replica in episode 26 of ‘Sousou no Frieren’ titled “The Height of Magic.” They have to resort to the last possible plan to defeat it, which does not look pretty.

Meanwhile, the rest of the mages are fighting their own replicas. Pairing their weakest matchup against their replicas, they defeat them easily. However, the stronger mages are challenging even to detect, let alone defeat.

Fern and Frieren successfully defeated the latter’s replica and destroyed Spiegel, conquering the dungeon. With this the second test comes to an end, and the mages will be given time off to rest. Frieren and Fern will reunite with Stark again while the other mages also relax.

Kanne made it through, but Lawine didn’t, so we might see how their interaction goes. They have stuck together through everything, but it will not be like that anymore. Ritcher was also eliminated, so we will see more of his and Denken’s interaction and how he feels about it.

The third test will begin soon after, and the mages will have to dive in full force to get the title of being a first-class mage.

3. Recap of episode 26

Frieren’s replica easily blocked Zoltraak, which was to be expected. Frieren engages in another round of intense battle of attrition. Meanwhile, Methode has scouted out the exact location of the other replicas and the mages pair up according to their own weak matchups.

The mages take down all their matchups easily, and the plan seems to be going smoothly. However, Sense, Denken, and Fern’s replicas have yet to be detected, which is concerning to them. Lawine and Ritcher get ambushed by Sense’s replica, and they both break their bottle.

Denken finds Sense’s replica, followed by Ubel and Land, and Ubel is confident she can beat Sense’s replica. Sense realizes that Ubel is fighting her replica as predicted.

Two years ago, Ubel easily killed Burg, a defense specialist mage no one has even gotten a scratch on, simply by using her imagination. Sense cannot imagine defeating Ubel, who easily cuts her replica’s hair and defeats it.

Methode finds Wirbel and his team, who agree to help them slow down replicas. Methode asks them to handle Denken’s replica while she handles Fern’s. Denken, Ubel, and Land get cornered by all the destroyed replicas that are returning.

It is a battle of attrition. The fight between Frieren and her replica goes nowhere, so she decides to use her last resort. Frieren tells Fern they can win if she believes it because Frieren underestimates her, which means her replica does too.

Frieren creates an opening, and Fern deals fatal damage to the replica. However, that forces the replica to use one of the strongest spells in Frieren’s arsenal, but that also leaves it open. Frieren kills her replica and praises Fern.

Frieren and Fern find Spiegel, and Frieren destroys it, and all the replicas subsequently disappear, too. All the surviving mages reach the bottom of the Ruins of the King’s Tomb, where Sense awaits them with good news.

Everyone has passed the second test but Frieren is stuck in another treasure box, much to everyone’s amusement.
