Sony’s Spider-Man Spin-off Silk Gets Working Title ‘Hockey Queens’

Sony’s live-action Spider-Man spinoff series Silk has a working title, and it references its protagonist Cindy Moon’s favorite sport.

According to a new edition of Production Weekly, the Silk series is currently in development under the working title of ‘Hockey Queens.’

In the comics, Cindy Moon loves to play hockey and also played on her school’s team. However, Cindy’s mother, Nari Moon, forces Cindy to quit the hockey team to focus on her studies.

Cindy Moon first appeared in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man #1 and was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos. Cindy gets her powers when she is bitten by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. Cindy then becomes Silk, a Korean American superhero. She is a member of the Spider-Army/Web-Warriors and Agents of Atlas.

Sony has been expanding its Marvel universe rapidly in the last few years with a bunch of projects lined up on its slate. Along with the Spider-Man films, there’s Venom sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius, Kraven The Hunter, and Spider-Woman. The latest to join the list was Silk.

Deadline recently reported that Tom Spezialy (Watchmen) would be joining the Silk series as an executive producer and showrunner alongside writer Lauren Moon (Atypical). Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will supposedly executive produce Silk alongside Amy Pascal.

Silk is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
