The isekai genre of manga depicts an escape from the restraints of reality in the actual world. Since the character is transported to a parallel world or a different world altogether, the plot is not restricted by rules of the human world. So I’m a Spider So What, takes advantage of that exact trait.
So I’m A Spider So What is a light novel series written by Okina Baba and illustrated by Tsukasa Kiryu, inspired by the original novel by Okina Baba.
The official website of So I’m A Spider So What, announced its anime release date. The anime was initially scheduled for release in 2020; however, the schedule got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. So I’m a Spider So What anime will begin broadcast and distribution starting January 2021.
The first key visual of the anime has been released. It shows ‘I’ or ‘Watashi,’ the nameless spider protagonist of the manga/anime holding its own against the vicious monsters of the dungeon.
The production committee also informed the fans that the detailed broadcast and distribution schedule would be updated on the official website or the official Twitter account.
The story revolves around a spider, who used to be a human girl. She suddenly finds herself reincarnated as a spider and has to survive against the monsters in a dungeon.
‘How did I transform? Did I die? Is this even the world of humans? ‘ are the questions to which the protagonist must find the answers to.
The series had started as a web novel in 2015, but later got adapted into a light novel by Okina Baba. Asahiro Kakashi launched the manga version in the Young Ace Up magazine. Yen Press has licensed the manga. Crunchyroll has licensed the upcoming anime series.
