Meanwhile, on the pirate train, the survivor from the reactor comes to and introduces herself as Asha. Ben informs the crew that their only option at a habitable place at this point is the Southern Arabian Peninsula. Layton realizes the tree from his vision also only grows in the Arabian warm spot. Since the train doesn’t have enough resources to get them there, they decide to join back with the main train.

Ruth speaks to Javi about the experiment, who reveals that it’s an electromagnetic weapon to kill Layton. Before she can get more information out of him, he rushes back to the engine room. Pike brings an expert to disarm the weapon but the guards arrive at the scene. Ruth sacrifices herself by surrendering to keep the guards from coming down and inspecting the weapon and leaves Pike in charge.

The weapon ends up getting accidentally activated and the only option left for Pike is to throw it off the train. The weapon releases electromagnetic waves when it is thrown off, which also alerts Layton and the pirate car to the Snowpiercer’s location and they gear up for an attack.
