Releasing Today: Snake Eyes On Premium VOD

From its run in the theatre, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins has made its way to your small screens. It is now available on Premium Digital and Premium VOD starting today, August 17.

Snake Eye’s VOD platforms include Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play/YouTube, Xfinity, Vudu, Redbox and Microsoft. It is not available on Paramount+ yet.

Initially, Snake Eyes was supposed to be released digitally and on Paramount+ 45 days after its theatrical debut. But amidst the pandemic and subpar critic reviews, the movie has not performed well on the box office — a mere 35 million USD dent worldwide.

Studios are yet to crack the formula of what type of film release will work efficiently during the ever-changing dynamics of the pandemic. In the meantime, the film’s early digital release hopes to attract more viewership to make up for its theatrical losses.

About Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins

Snake Eyes (also known as Snake Eyes: G.I, Joe Origins) is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Robert Schwentke, with a screenplay written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, Joe Shrapnel, and Anna Waterhouse, from a story by Spiliotopoulos. Based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe toy, comic, and media franchise, the film is a reboot of the G.I. Joe film series and serves as an origin story for the title character Snake Eyes.

Henry Golding stars as the character, replacing Ray Park who portrayed him in the previous films, while Andrew Koji, Ursula Corbero, Samara Weaving, Haruka Abe, Takehiro Hira, and Iko Uwais also star.

The movie follows a lone fighter who is welcomed into and trained by an ancient Japanese ninja clan called the Arashikage, but finds his loyalties being tested when secrets from his past are revealed, as he eventually goes on the path to become the hero known as “Snake Eyes”.
