The Boys Season 5 Confirmed by Showrunner Eric Kripke

Season 4 will not be the end for the superhit Prime Video series, The Boys. The alternative superhero series premiered on Prime Video in 2019 and is based on the Dynamite and DC/Wildstorm comic series of the same name.

The series follows a group of vigilantes on a mission to take down a group of rogue superheroes called The Seven. The Boys features an ensemble cast including Jack Quaid, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Jensen Ackles, Elisabeth Shue, Laz Alonso, Antony Starr, and Karl Urban.

The Boys has run for three seasons, and a fourth is on the way. Showrunner Eric Kripke took to Twitter recently and addressed a barrage of questions regarding whether season 4 is the series finale or not. Read the tweets below:

This tweet seemingly confirms that ‘there will be more’ as season 5 is on the way. He also stated that the premiere will be ‘at some point in the future’.

Since its inception, The Boys has become one of the most successful comic franchises. Besides the main series, it has spawned many spin-offs, including The Boys Presents: Diabolical and the upcoming superhero series Gen V starring Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, and Chance Perdomo.

The Boys has ruled the streaming charts ever since it came out in 2022. In fact, in 2022, it achieved the seemingly impossible by beating The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in viewership and became the most streamed Prime Video series in 2022.

It also came at number 11 in the streaming list across all streaming platforms, with the top 10 being taken up by Netflix series.

So, The Boys has been one of the most successful franchises for Amazon, and it will be a wrong business decision to end it after just four seasons.

Although it is debatable whether offshoots like Gen V will pull such strong viewership, the main series will continue to have a firm grasp on the streaming charts for a long time.

Finally, The Boys’ budget is significantly lower than shows like The Rings of Power, and it is an even better incentive for Prime Video to continue producing new seasons for a long time.

About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
