No Samantha In Sex And The City Reboot Doesn’t Concern The Author

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, author Candace Bushnell revealed that it doesn’t really matter if Samantha is not a part of the Sex and the City reboot.

Titled And Just Like That…, the HBO Max reboot news did make fans enthusiastic but it gave a bitter taste too. Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, would not be returning for the show.

The series is based on the book written by Candace Bushnell, and she has often called the four characters her extensions. Then it surely would hurt not to have all of them in a reboot, right? Well, the answer is a No for Bushnell.

She reasoned that each show has its logic, and she has complete trust in Michael Patrick King for doing what’s right.

This is an entertainment product. All of these shows have their own interior logic and their own rules. This is a show that Michael Patrick King is doing and he’s very skilled at doing these kinds of TV shows. He’s going to do what he feels is right for the show and I totally respect that.

She even added that fans’ craze for a celebrity is something she can never understand, especially about fans wondering what would happen to Samantha.

Honestly, I really don’t understand that kind of fandom where people are like, ‘Oh my God [Samantha’s gone],’ it’s so anathema to me. I don’t have that personality, so I don’t actually even understand it. I don’t understand why people are even interested in celebrities. It mystifies me.

While there hasn’t been an official statement about why, people think it’s because of their long-time in a real-life feud with Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw. Samantha Jones’s was important as she was defined as the unapologetic, sex-loving, positive woman who never shied away from getting anything she wanted – back in the 1980s.

Now fans are left to wonder how exactly the show will resume their stories or, more specifically, how they will kill Samantha off.

The acclaimed women-friendship series became the talk of the town and ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004. Two flopped feature films later, HBO Max was picked up for a limited 10-episode reboot series titled And Just Like That….

However, there is a new partner in town. Know more about her below.
