Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi Anniversary PS4 Edition Releasing Soon

Sengoku Basara debuted way back in 2005. This year Capcom is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the franchise.

To mark the occasion, there will be a special release of Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi Anniversary Edition for PS4. It set to launch in Japan on 21st July and this news was announced by Crunchyroll on their official Twitter page.

The Sumeragi version of Sengoku Basara 4 was released for PS4 in July 2015 in Japan. So this year marks not only the 15th anniversary of the game franchise but also the 5th anniversary of the Sengoku Basara 4: Sumeragi.

The physical version of the game will be available with fifty-six pieces of DLC and 10 weapon item downloads. Adding to that, a special Sengoku Heroes 15th Anniversary Art Book will also be available with an illustrated box.

If people are ready to invest a bit more and get the limited anniversary edition through the eCapcom Store, they will get a bonus tapestry featuring the anniversary visual. The limited-edition will be available for ¥8,000 or about $75.

The game is loosely based on the historical and titular Sengoku period of feudal Japan. Sengoku Basara is one of the most popular games in Japan with mammoth sales (selling over 4 million units worldwide), amazing reviews, and countless awards. The huge and strong fan base changed it from a video game series into a cultural phenomenon.

The series has been adapted into many forms, from manga, anime, and films to trading cards. The anime and film adaptations of the series are as follows:

Sengoku Basara which was broadcast in Japan in April 2009.
Sengoku Basara II which was broadcast in Japan in July 2010.
Sengoku Basara: The Last Party film which was released in Japanese theatres on June 2011
Sengoku Basara: End of Judgement which was broadcast in Japan in July 2014.

Fans around the world are eagerly waiting for Capcom to release the anniversary edition and hopefully, in the near future Sengoku Basara 5 as well.
