See S3E8 Recap and the Future of the Franchise Discussed

It has become a rarity nowadays to see a show finish on its own terms and not be cut short by the producers.

See seems to have timed its closure perfectly, and the finale is one of the best finales I’ve watched recently (Am I being reactionary? Maybe a little!)!

The finale was a juxtaposition of two halves. The first half had a bombastic premise (literally) with violent battle sequences, and the next one was overflowing with emotional agony.

Although See didn’t manage to get the attention it deserved over the course of the three seasons, the way it wrapped everything up to make the perfect finale was commendable. But this leaves one question in the minds of fans like us:

Is there any possibility of a season 4?

1. What to expect after the season 3 Finale?

Jason Mamoa was pushed to his absolute limits in the finale of Apple TV’s dystopian drama, See, and we got our money’s worth for sure!

The bombastic action in concoction with severe emotional trauma for the characters and the audience made sure that the finale of See delivered!

For many viewers, the conclusion of a show after only three seasons is disappointing. But sometimes, that is all a series needs.

There are no plans for more episodes because season 3 was declared the final season from the beginning.

In an interview with Collider, Momoa expressed his desire for this story to have a satisfying conclusion, unlike some of the other shows where he was featured (Yes, Game of Thrones. Sigh!)

…I think three seasons is pretty perfect. I mean, just depending on the show, but I feel like this was the perfect time to kind of wrap it all up. I feel like a lot of shows I’ve been part of didn’t plan for that. And then those seasons and everyone’s always bummed out and the fans are bummed out, and I think that’s the thing where I’m like, “Yes, let’s wrap this up. Let’s do it.” And truth be told too, it’s like we’ve got so many projects coming up too, that we’re doing. It’s like, let’s focus on See. So we shot back-to-back Season 2 and Season 3 before I went to go do Aquaman 2…

2. Is the series over?

According to the latest news, season 3 was the last season and Apple has no plans to renew the series for a fourth season.

5. Season 3, Finale Recap

The events of the penultimate episode bled into the events of the finale.

Maghra and her kids knew that Baba had returned to face Sibeth’s Witchfinders and Tormada’s rebel Trivantian army. Maghra was aware that Sibeth and Tormada could start bombing at any time, and they didn’t want to be stuck underground for long. That was why Maghra and her people came up.

Baba and Ranger failed to stop the trebuchets on time, and the bombings almost killed Koufan. Maghra stepped up and decided to fight herself.

Maghra prompted Sibeth to come back and talk to her sister for one last time. That emotional sequence was immediately followed by Maghra pulling out Sibeth’s knife and fatally stabbing her.

Meanwhile, Baba, Ranger, Tamacti, Kofun, Haniwa, and Wren joined the fight. Ranger killed Tormada, and Baba made his way through to the bombs and caused them to explode. It destroyed the entire army and Baba himself.

Like a True Warrior

Thus, Baba died just as he had lived- like a warrior, always protecting his family.

Maghra declared Kofun as the ruler of Paya. Kofun gave up his eyesight so there could be no difference between him and his fellow people.

Haniwa set out to learn more about humanity’s past, which took her to New York Public Library. She was surprised to find sighted people reading voraciously. That was when she realized her journey was finally over; she was home.

The finale ended with the message that sight was slowly returning to the world, again.
