Director Peyton Reed Debunks “Scott Lang’s Death” Theory in Ant-Man 3

Kang the Conqueror being chosen as the main villain in Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania helps debunk many existing theories that say Scott lang will meet his demise in the Ant-Man sequel.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the third Ant-Man film in the MCU and the fifth creative in which Scott Lang makes an appearance. However, facing Kang might be too much of an ordeal this time.

In the first trailer for the upcoming film, Scott Lang and his family were sucked into the Quantum Realm, a microscopic universe where Janet van Dyne was trapped for decades. Also, the Quantum Realm is the home to the time-traveling bad guy Kang the Conqueror.

Kang is being set up as the next big villain in the MCU, someone with the same strength and impact as Thanos. Ant-Man 3 director Peyton Reed explains why Kang was chosen, and it hints that Scott Lang might survive. Read the full quote below:

That’s interesting to me: to take the tiniest, and in some people’s minds weakest, Avenger, and put them up against this absolute force of nature.

Reed admits that many fans consider Ant-Man as one of the weaker Avengers. So, it will be predictable and bland if Kang manages to annihilate the little guy without any consequences.

It is much more likely that the seemingly weakest Avenger will somehow find a way to thwart Kang’s onslaught and come out alive (even if Kang is simply stalled till 2025’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty).

Scott Lang surviving the aftermath of Kang’s repeated attacks feels much more dramatic and worthwhile than the former getting squashed by the supervillain.

With Kang having complete control of reality and time itself, it will be incredible if Ant-Man manages to hold his ground without the help of the mighty Avengers!

Likewise, if Ant-Man and his family barely make it through, it only seems logical that Scott Lang will go to the other Avengers and warn them about Kang’s existence. Kang’s appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania seems to be just a teaser before he appears in all his glory in the future Avenger movies.

What if Scott gets killed by Kang?

Kang’s killing of Scott Lang will establish him as a formidable force and one of the most powerful foes of the Avengers.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the golden opportunity for Ant-Man to prove that he is anything but the weakest MCU hero by facing the mighty Kang and living to tell the tale.
