We begin the third season of the anime Sword Art Online III. Season 3 will continue the story from where it ended in season 2 of the Alicization – War of Underworld arc; after PoH has challenged Kirito to wake up or the Underworld was headed for doom, there are chances that Kirito might awaken after his Fluctlight was restored.

1. Episode 18 Release Date
Episode 18 of the Sword Art Online III Season 3 anime, titled “Memories,” will be released on Saturday, August 15, 2020.
In the next episode, Kirito will wake up in his memories, but Asuna battles to protect him against PoH!
I. Is Sword Art Online III on a Break This Week?
No, episode 18 of the Sword Art Online III Season 3 anime will be released as per its schedule; thus, no such delay is announced. The anime comes out weekly every Saturday.
2. Preview & Speculation
The preview for the next Episode 18, titled “Memories,” was not shown at the end of episode 17. But we will journey into Kirito’s memories before he wakes up in the Underworld. Presumably, something might go wrong, and Higa may need one more person who had a strong bond with Kirito to restore his Fluctlight completely.
For most of the next episode, we will get Kirito wandering and living life as a Highschool student in his dream and remain soulless on the battleground. At the same time, not all hope is lost as he may run into his comrades from SAO in his memories.
On the other hand, Asuna stands up determined to save Kirito; she will have a sword fight against PoH, wanting to know the reason behind his deep-rooted hatred for Kirito to go as far as attempting to kill him. But PoH’s powers seem to be overwhelming for Asuna, and as they grow, the dark energy will consume the battlefield.
After leaving an injured Shinon, Subtilizer is headed to where Alice was traveling. There is one character who may appear as a ray of hope in reviving Kirito; we may get to see Eugeo!
3. Recap of Episode 17
I. Eiji and Yuna to the rescue
Episode 17, titled “Prince of Hell,” begins with Yui receiving signals from the old SAO server! At the Southern Ruins PoH kicks Kirito to wake him up, Asuna begs him to leave Kirito alone. But PoH kicks Kirito’s wheelchair in anger of not being able to talk to him, Kirito falls to the ground taking the abuse from PoH.
When PoH snatches away the broken Blue Rose sword, Kirito moves his hand, wanting it back. PoH continues slapping Kirito, but Klein gets stabbed while warning him not to touch his friend. Eiji comes running and attacks PoH when he raised his weapon against Kirito and fights with PoH but soon falls!
When PoH instructs his army to attack Eiji, Yuna appears to protect him. The Korean and Chinese military recognize Yuna and watch stunned as Yuna and Eiji take on PoH together!
II. PoH’s past
Yuna sings, and her magic releases the Korean and Chinese army from PoH’s influence. They begin to chatter that the server could be Japanese after all because of Yuna’s voice and appearance.
Unmatched with Eiji’s abilities, PoH asked him who was he to which Eiji replied that he was the Knights of the Blood Oath’s Nautilus! Eiji changes back to his SAO outfit and charges towards PoH, whom he could not forgive for murdering his comrades in Aincrad.
We are taken back to the past where PoH had to forcibly donate his kidney to his older Japanese brother upon his father’s threat not to support his broke and abusive mother. As he grows up, PoH develops hatred towards Japanese and joins SAO after stealing a nerve gear to kill them.
He gives himself the username “Prince of Hell (PoH)” the term his mother often used.
III. The power that drives the girls to fight.
PoH slashes and defeats Eiji, whose character then disappears from the Underworld along with Yuna. Moonphase recognizes the Laughing Coffin emblem on PoH’s hand, but PoH uses his power to control the army and makes them slaughter each other.
At the Dark Territory Rocky Mountain, Shinon battles with Subtilizer and loses her legs. Meanwhile, Leafa continues to fight the American army sustaining massive injuries with multiple swords stabbed in her back. After losing her arm, Leafa uses her unlimited regeneration ability under the Terraria account to heal herself and fights back the urge to give up, remembering that it was not something Kirito would do.
Both Shinon and Leafa face formidable enemies and continue fighting for Kirito’s sake. On the other hand, Higa is saved by Rinko and finally restores Kirito’s Fluctlight! With Asuna, Shinon, and Leafa’s prayers, Blue Rose sword glows, and a voice tells Kirito it was time to wake up.
Kirito opens his eyes in a classroom, wondering if it was all a dream.
