In chapter 68 of Sakamoto Days, titled “Follow Me”, Shin, Mafuyu, and Toramaru continue their fight against the mysteriously talented recruit Shinaya.
An extremely pensive Kaji is quite confused by the fact that their adversary seems asleep, while the clairvoyant Shin is continually bewildered by the fact that he is unable to read his opponent’s mind.
The battle rages on as Gaku, with the help of his VR tech, takes on some of the finest young assassins via Shinaya and completely wipes the floor with them. The tides might turn but there’s no telling how or when this may happen, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed.
1. Chapter 69 Discussion
Now that the ones facing Shinaya are all but one down for the count, Shin bolsters Kaji’s confidence and edges him on to fight alongside him.
On the other hand, Mr. Sakamoto, realizes that Akira’s surname is the same as Rion, one of the big three names in the academy during his time there.
The next chapter could continue the battle between the newbies and Shinaya or Gaku without losing any steam at all. Or it could calm things down for a minute by delving into the backstory of Mr. Sakamoto and his days at the academy.
Akira’s connection to Rion is borderline mysterious, and this could very well mean that we could get to see her in action very soon.
While I am a little burnt out on the high-octane action that the manga has been providing for the last few chapters, I am really excited to see Shin and Kaji in action and watch the two unlikely comrades synergize.

4. Recap of Chapter 68
The chapter opens with Toramaru and Mafuyu landing a solid attack on Shinaya, but it gets easily blocked by him as the man controlling his body, Gaku, is treating it like a game and, honestly, seems rather skilled at it.
The two of them follow up with another attack where Shin joins them but immediately gets struck down.
Shin is continuously trying to understand why can’t he read Shinaya’s mind. At the same time, Kaji, who has superhuman hearing, wonders why his heartbeat sounds like that of somebody who’s asleep, and not only that, but he is also quite confident that he’s hearing the noise made by precision equipment.
Although he’s actively analyzing the enemy, he’s too shy to join the fray.
Toramaru and Shin lead the next charge but are surprised by the sudden halt in Shinaya’s movements. Gaku, who is controlling the man via VR tech, hit his head on a wall due to the space being confined.
Upon complaining about it, Kashima, the Reindeer-headed automaton, and his accomplice brush it off with a warning to not overdo it with Shinaya’s body as not many people can keep up with Gaku’s movements.
This piques Gaku’s interest as he had never wondered who Shinaya was, and upon asking, he finds out that he’s just a random person whom Kashima hired through an online form.
Gaku gets the idea to find all recruits the same way and put them through the wringer; whosoever survives could be recruited. Kashima, however, believes that all the applicants need to be interviewed as he and his boss believe that Human Resources are their greatest asset.
Back on the battlefield, Gaku takes control of Shinaya again and wipes the floor with the three young assassins. Mafuyu is kicked away to a distance, but kaji swoops in and prevents the other two from suffering the same fate.
He then suggests that they back off, and an injured Mafuyu takes great offense as he heads back into the battlefield. Toramaru and he go for a last-ditch attack but are instantly countered, putting them down for the count.
All this while Kaji had been wondering how the three were not losing all their confidence in the face of such a powerful adversary, how were they so cool?
Shin answers the questions in his mind as he reveals that he’s a clairvoyant and suggests that he should just go for it.
Taking his advice, Kaji steps up, and he has a plan, a plan that begins with a slip of the tongue as his heroic moment is overshadowed by his “follow me” coming out as “fwollow me.”
