Saiyuki is a manga/anime series which is inspired by the Chinese fantasy novel, The Journey to the West. However, the anime adds its own twist to the age-old tale.
With four punk-like warriors traveling to India, the anime is suitable for those who love a fair amount of action. Mysterious demons and magic are generously sprinkled throughout the series, and a good amount of gag elements are also involved.
A new anime adaptation of the Saiyuki Reload manga is on its way. The “Even a Worm” arc of the manga will inspire the Saiyuki Reload-ZEROIN- anime.
A promotional video has been posted for the upcoming anime.
The teaser video shows the four main protagonists cheering each other up and fighting together. It offers a modern and punk twist on the original Journey to the West series. New power-ups and villains will be the bonus point.
“Even a Worm” is the second-last arc of the manga.
A new visual showing Son Goku, Genjyo Sanzo, Sha Gojyo and Cho Hakkai dressed in full combat outfits is also revealed.
Studio LIDEN FILMS is animating the new series. The four main cast members will reprise their roles for the upcoming anime.
The cumulative total amount of copies in circulation of the Saiyuki manga has passed 25 million. It has received four anime adaptations as well as anime films, stage musicals, and OVAs.
The manga also has two spinoffs: the Saiyuki Gaiden and Saiyuki Ibun. The Saiyuki Reload Blast manga is a sequel to the original manga and is being used as the source for the upcoming anime.

Saiyuki is a manga series created by Kazuya Minekura, and it is loosely based on the 16th-century Chinese novel, Journey to the West. It has received four anime adaptations and several spinoff mangas.
The plot revolves around the four heroes, Son Goku, GenjyoSanzo, Sha Gojyo and Cho Hakkai. They travel to India to stop the resurrection of an ox-demon-king called Gyumaoh.
On their way, they meet plenty of assassins and face the consequences of their own past as well.
