Rurouni Kenshin 2023 Episode 9: Release Date, Speculation, Watch Online

Kenshin and Sagara get into trouble with a lady in episode 8 of Rurouni Kenshin 2023, titled “Beauty on the Run.”

It was an interesting start to a new arc. We were introduced to Megumi Takani, a lady possibly working for a dangerous businessman named  Kanryu Takeda.

She came to Kenshin, begging for his help because he looked strong. However, she is not someone to be trusted. Kenshin and Sagara met the main antagonists in the episode itself but didn’t get to interact or fight them.

2. Episode 9 Speculations

Sagara will fight the giant man in episode 9 of Rurouni Kenshin 2023, titled “The Oniwabanshu Strike.”

We will hopefully delve deeper into the history of Kanryu, his business, and the elite army, Onibawan. Their leader, Aoshi Shinomori, seems interesting, and I am eager to see more about him.

Sagara and the big man will indulge in an intense battle, but Sagara will emerge victorious. However, this won’t be the end of it, as more threats and attacks will be on the way for Team Kenshin.

3. Episode 8 Recap

Kaoru can’t find Kenshin anywhere. Yahiko tells her that Sagara took him to a restaurant for some gambling. Although Kenshin doesn’t like it much, Sagara tells him to enjoy himself without overthinking.

Sagara asks his gambling mates about one of his friends. They tell him he died a month ago from an opium overdose. Just then, a woman enters the room.

She notices Kenshin’s sword and rushes to him, asking him to protect her. Two men show up, demanding Kenshin to hand over the lady. Sagara beats them up.

      

One of them warns him not to mess with them as they are Kanryu Takeda’s men. The people in the room start panicking after hearing the name. Sagara tells Kenshin that he is a businessman.

He has become very wealthy in the past few years. The lady denies having any association with that man. Suddenly, a small man calls out her name, telling them she is lying.

The lady’s name is Megumi Takani. The man attacks Megumi, but Kenshin protects her. Kenshin and Sagara knock him out. Megumi asks for their help, saying that they will be handsomely rewarded.

Sagara finds that she is hiding opium in her robes. They take her home. Kaoru is left shocked by the sudden entry of another girl. Megumi starts flirting with Kenshin. Kaoru throws all three of them out.

The two men are about to ask Megumi about the opium when a friend of Sagara hurriedly comes to him asking for help. The two goons who attacked them before were found dead near a river.

There, Kenshin recognizes Kanryu and his men. A tall man accompanies him. Kanryu restricts his subordinate from attacking Kenshin in the open. Megumi tells Kenshin and Sagara about the tall man.

The tall man is the leader of the Oniwaban group, a group of former Onmitsu hired by Kanryu recently. Onmitsu were a group of tricksters in the Edo era who are now known as shinobi or ninjas.

Their leader is Aoshi Shinomori. Later, Kenshin gets the details about Kanryu’s army from Megumi, but she is still not ready to talk about the opium.

Kenshin comes out of the room and discusses the issue with Sano and Kaoru when a giant man enters their dojo, asking them to give Megumi back.

Rurouni Kenshin is a manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1994 to 1999. The 2023 series will be a reboot of the 1996 series, re-adapting the original manga.

In the Meiji era, 11th year, Kenshin Himura is a wandering samurai who was once feared as an assassin. However, he has taken a vow to never kill people and atone for his crimes.

He comes across Kaoru Kamiya, the head of a small dojo that is on the verge of shutting down, because of a man who is killing in the name of her dojo.
