2. Episode 6 Speculations

Sagara will start a new journey with Kenshin in episode 5 of Rurouni Kenshin 2023, titled “Kurogasa.”

We met a new serial killer in the post-credit scene. He looks like an experienced old man who was part of the revolution and is out to make things right. He killed dozens of policemen and also seems to be having a superpower of some sort.

Kenshin and this band will learn about this guy from a policeman. The police will try to find a way out to get rid of this killer. However, just like any other time, their leader will ignore all warnings and cause chaos in an attempt to do things in his own way.

Kenshin and Sagara continue their battle. However, Kenshin easily powers the latter with consecutive attacks, and Sagara realizes that he has no chance against Kenshin.

We go ten years back, where Sozo Sagara is the captain of the Sekiho Army, the vanguard of the Imperial Army. The army acted as the guide and vanguard that assisted the main army.

Sanosuke also accompanies the army. He wants to take up Sagara’s name after Sozo leaves the army. The Sekiho army is accused of being a fake Imperial Army.

The Imperial government was facing financial issues, so not to implement the Tax Halving Order, they framed the Sekiho Army so that it looked like the order never existed.

Sagara leaves with the rest of the army and tells Sanosuke to wait. Later, Sanosuke gets some news about his captain and finds his beheaded head put on display and framed as a criminal for tricking people with the tax order.

Remembering this incident, Sanosuke stands up again and launches himself at Kenshin. He is unable to walk properly. Seeing the opportunity, Kihei fires his gun at Kenshin.

Kenshin survives the attack. Gohei moves towards Kaoru, but Sagara stops him and tells him not to interfere. Kenshin brutally injures Kihei. Sagara insists on continuing the fight.

They get on it again, but this time, Kenshin breaks Sagara’s weapon. Despite getting hit a lot of times, Sagara continues to stand strong. He blames and accuses imperialists like Kenshin of advertising fake justice.

However, Kaoru tells him that Kenshin is not what he thinks he is. Kenshin also tells him that the revolution is not over, and he will continue to fight for the oppressed for as long as is needed.

Hearing all this, Sagara is reminded of this captain and accepts his defeat. Later, Kenshin and Kaoru find Sagara at the restaurant again. He is not that well but is still able to walk around.

He tells Kenshin that he will shadow Kenshin from now on and will see how he is different from the imperialist.

5. About Rurouni Kenshin

It is a Japanese manga series penned and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1994 to 1999. A TV anime adaptation was also broadcast to 1996 to 1998, and it even has an anime film along with numerous video projects.

The English manga version was published by Viz Media, and the English anime version was released by Media Blasters.

The story revolves around a former assassin who, after going against the feudal government, changed his name to Himura Kenshin and changed into a wandering swordsman who protects the people of Japan. He made a vow to never take another life.
