He used two rain gutters to replace the hot water in the bath with ice-cold water from the river, and he blocked the entrance to the hot spring with a bathmat to allow Sachiko to fall into the freezing water. He was aware of her weak heart and that the heat shock caused by the temperature difference would kill her.

The husband admits to murdering his wife to be with his other partner, Michiyo. Michiyo, disgusted by his activities, refuses to have anything to do with him, and Toto yells at the husband for stealing his wife’s life. He notices Ron being hauled away by Spitz as he realizes Ron did not press the culprit as usual.

Totomaru pursues them into the woods. Spitz had bound and hung Ron from a tree, and when Totomaru approaches them, he confesses that he is a BLUE instructor who was dispatched to see if Ron was conducting any investigative work.
