Riverdale Cast Is Crashing the 1950s in Nostalgic 100th Episode

The CW’s Riverdale is turning back time with a nostalgic, retro photoshoot for the series’ 100th episode.

As the supernatural arc in Season 6 is almost coming to an end, the series is returning to its roots as a new set of photos posted by TVLine sees the whole gang going back to the 1950s.

The characters’ outfits are taken from the Archie comic books, and in another double-nostalgic shot, Archie, Betty, and Veronica are sharing a milkshake, as they did back in Season 2, and of course, a recreation of the original art from nearly six decades ago.

As the trio are stuck in their love triangle, Jughead is also in the photos, lurking around with his iconic crown on. We see Cheryl, Toni, and Pop Tate hanging around as well.

While most of these images are set inside Pops Diner, some of them have a different, somber tone. Jughead tidies up and looks serious with his hair slicked back, wearing a vest and coat.

There’s another shot of Shannon Purser’s Ethel Muggs, seen for the first time since her last appearance in Season 4.

(Glad to know she escaped The Upside Down. Hey, maybe the showrunners will cook up a Stranger Things crossover for the final season!)

Dilton Doiley and Hal Cooper are returning for the special episode, but they have been dead for a while, so it’d be interesting to see how the showrunners revive these characters.

These aren’t the only characters being brought back to life, though. The upcoming episode, The Witching Hour(s), will have a crossover event that’ll revive Sabrina Spellman to cast spells alongside Cheryl.

So far, we have witnessed Archie getting his heart ripped out, Toni becoming La Llorona, and Reggie taking a trip to hell. With Sabrina arriving in town during Bailey’s Comet, Jughead will “uncover the truth about Riverdale” in the fifth episode.

Since the series has gone all out with its supernatural element, the episodes have had a lot of eventful moments, and fans expect nothing less from the next two.

The season’s storyline is akin to a rollercoaster… whether it’s a Six Flags ride or a Euthanasia Coaster, you can decide once the supernatural arc reaches its conclusion.

The 100th chapter, titled The Jughead Paradox, will air on December 14, but before that, The Witching Hour(s) airs on December 7.

Riverdale airs new episodes on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.

About Riverdale

Based on a story from the popular Archies Comics, the 2017 Netflix drama Riverdale is centered on an innocent, small town of the same name.

It follows a group of high school students who are shocked by the death of a classmate, Jason Blossom. Together they unravel the secrets of Riverdale and who killed Jason.

Cole Sprouse’s grungy Jughead is the show’s narrator and school reporter who almost acts like its ‘Gossip Girl’ — documenting the characters’ lives and filling in the blanks for us.
