Rhys Ifans on Reprising Lizard for Spider-Man: No Way Home

We’ve seen Lizard in quite a few Spider-Man: No Way Home footage. But Rhys Ifans’ human persona is missing from action. The actor takes a moment to tease this possibility.

Ifans appeared as Lizard/Dr Curt Connor in Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man. As Connor, Ifans had quite a sympathetic, troubled backstory as he was also lab partners with Peter’s father, Richard Parker.

Now, Ifans is officially listed as part of the No Way Home crew. But not seeing him in the flesh or hearing from him in any promotional work, on-screen and off, has set off another round of questions in the movie’s never-ending saga of theories.

An exclusive from Murphy’s Multiverse, Ifans comments on whether he is reprising the role of Lizard:

Well, you know, like most Christmas presents, the good thing is not knowing what’s in them until it’s time to open them.

That does not sound like a no to me!

I’m sure there’s a reason why both Lizard and Sandman (Thomas Haden Church reprising his role here) are being kept under wraps for now. The Spidey villains themselves are just as anticipated as Maguire and Garfield’s presence.

In fact, fans are still trying to figure out if there are more villains/cameos to look forward to in the movie.

At least with Ifans’ cryptic answer, we know that there is indeed a “Christmas gift” awaiting us.

Till a couple of weeks ago, fans were also skeptical about whether Willem Defoe will be appearing on screen since all of the promotional work had the Green Goblin only with his mask on.

Although we would’ve been happy even with Defoe continuing to voice the role, fortunately, he did appear alongside Molina and Foxx in the NWH press tour to confirm we will see him in the movie.

Can you believe there’s just a few days left for the movie? I can’t either! Let’s hope to catch Ifans and others in Spider-Man: No Way Home, December 17 in theatres.
