Summary

  • A reputed Overwatch 2 player has leaked the patch notes for Season 9 ahead of its release.
  • Season 9 of Overwatch 2 promises to fix Blizzard’s mistakes, as seen from the patch notes.
  • There is a good balance between the buffs and the nerfs by removing reload speed bonuses in-game.

Leaks and industry insiders are the most significant sources of notorious leaks in the gaming industry. Overwatch 2’s Season 9 Update patch notes have been leaked.

An Overwatch 2 pro, going by the name of Rupal, has leaked Overwatch 2 Season 9’s patch notes on a livestream. Several changes have been revealed, including health buffs for all players across the roster. Ultimates will cost 10% more, along with damages reducing healing.

This leak by Rupal is consistent with earlier leaks about the Overwatch 2 hero Tracer. The earlier leak stated that Tracer’s HP will be incremented to 175.

This is one of the few changes that developers Blizzard have made to buff heroes. Recently released hero Mauga made headlines for being overpowered, so much so that players have started quitting the title.

However, Blizzard is looking to make amends and appease the players with the Season 9 update, whose details have been leaked.

Per the leaked patch notes, all Overwatch 2 heroes will be more “stout” on the battlefield. DPS heroes will receive fewer bonuses. Not everything is being nerfed, though, as all characters’ HP is being buffed anywhere between 15-20%.

To ensure that Ultimates remain sacred and feared, the increased cost will reduce the frequency with which they are used. The projectiles’ size has increased, allowing players to hit their targets more easily. However, this excludes Ana’s Sleep Dart, Brigitte’s Whip Shot, Reinhardt’s Firestrike, Roadhog’s Chain Hook, Sigma’s Accretion and Sombra’s Virus.

Since this is just a leak with no official comment from the developers yet, it could be possible that these stats will change as we draw closer to the release of Season 9. Until then, players can grind away, hoping for better days in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.
