The protagonist was isekai’d to a new world as a sword in episode 2 of Reincarnated as a Sword, titled “The Catgirl Met a Sword.”

The anime begins just like any other isekai. The guy died in the first scene, and we didn’t even see his face. We were introduced to the catgirl who will wield him, Fran.

The protagonist easily adapts to his new world (He, too, might have read some isekai light novels). He is pretty powerful and can move around on his own, flying in the air like a bird. The catgirl is a cute and innocent slave who wants to get stronger.

Episode 2 Speculations

Fran will visit the adventurer’s guild in episode 2 of Reincarnated as a Sword  titled, ”The Scary Examiner at the Adventurer’s Guild.”

Shisou and Fran might get attacked by a horde of goblins. They are probably the ones whom Shisou attacked in the first episode. The journey has started, and it will be interesting to see what happens.

Although, I don’t feel they will deviate much from the general isekai tropes and try something new. There is still some hope, given the bizarre premise. Let’s wait and watch.

Episode 2 Release Date

Episode 2 of the Reincarnated as a Sword anime, titled “The Scary Examiner at the Adventurer’s Guild”, has been released on Wednesday, Oct 05, 2022.

Episode 1 Recap

The episode starts with a man getting run over by truck kun. He wakes up and realizes that he has been isekaied to another world and he is a sword. He is surprised to find this out.

However, he quickly starts to get interested in all the powers and abilities that one gets when reincarnated in another world. He opens his inventory and finds out about the skills that he has.

A bunch of goblins come near him and try to take the sword out, but the sword begins killing them. He realizes that he gains a certain energy whenever he kills a goblin. His skills have increased. He decides to become the strongest sword in the world.

Meanwhile, a catgirl is being used as a slave. She is berated and beaten by her masters. They mock her and keep her hungry. She, too, wants to become strong but doesn’t know how.

The protagonist keeps on fighting new monsters and gaining new abilities. His skills keep on improving, and he is enjoying himself. He feels proud that he will make his wielder the strongest person in the world.

He enters a cave belonging to the goblins and kills the king of goblins, gaining a massive skill boost. His journey continues, but he feels lonely without a wielder, and he wants to get one as fast as he can.

While flying, he lands at a place and gets stuck there. The soil absorbs all his mana, making it impossible for him to move ahead. Ten days later, he is still stuck there.

The cat girl and her masters, while traveling, are attacked by a giant beast. The beast kills everyone. The catgirl is freed from the collar attached to her. She tries to fight the beast but fails.

She doesn’t want to die, but then she sees the sword stuck there. Our protagonist can talk to her, he tells her to wield him, and in return, he will make her stronger. She takes it out and kills the beast.

Black cat (that’s what she is called) tells the sword that she wants to get stronger because she wants to evolve and fulfill her parents’ dream. The sword asks for her name. She doesn’t have one, but she remembers that her parents called her Fran, hence the name.

She starts calling the sword ‘Shishou,’ meaning teacher. Thus the duo of Fran and Shisou set out on the mission of evolving Fran.

About Reincarnated as a Sword

Also known as TenKen, it is a Japanese light novel series written by Yuu Tanaka and illustrated by Llo. It started as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in October 2015.

The plot revolves around a person who finds himself in another world reincarnated as a sword after dying in the human world. He has no recollection of his name but weirdly remembers everything else from his life as a human. Accepting his fate, he looks for someone who can own him.

A catgirl slave named Fran soon discovers the sword, uses it to kill a two-headed bear, and gives it the name “Teacher”. The duo then embarks on an adventure.
