Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was released in theaters worldwide on March 31, 2023, and has already dethroned John Wick: Chapter 4 at this weekend’s box office. The film is based on Dungeons and Dragons, a forgotten tabletop and RPG which has picked up momentum again recently.
Regé-Jean Page, who plays Xenk in the 2023 film, spoke with ScreenRant and explained how DnD has “no boundaries to it” and is “infinite,” thus the universe can be expanded on the big screens too. Read his full answer below:
I think the joy of the Dungeons & Dragons universe is that there are no boundaries to it. It’s infinite. And so I think if there are any other stories that people want to tell within that, there are very few constraints to doing that.

The Bridgerton star doesn’t have a very big role to play in Honor Among Thieves, but here’s why his character might be the connection linking the DnD universe with big screens.
In Honor Among Thieves, Page plays Xenk, a fabled paladin who ages slower than humans and helps the adventurers in the fantasy film along their quest. He saves them from a group of the undead on their way to the Helm of Disjunction but goes his own way after that.
Just like Edgin and his team of bandits, Xenk has helped numerous others in his long life, and if new stories in the DnD universe were to be explored in theaters, he’d serve as the perfect link.
Whether it be a sequel or spinoff, the Dungeon and Dragons’ lore means that the possibilities are endless, and the stories that are waiting to be created can be a new and unique subsection in the fantasy genre.
