Our favorite Dwayne Johnson has been teasing his upcoming holiday film, Red One for months, and this time he teases a behind-the-scenes image of him facing Krampus.
The film boasts a stellar cast, joined by Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, J.K. Simmons, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, and Bonnie Hunt. It is being directed by Jake Kasdan, who was at the helm of blockbuster movies like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level.
Although much of the story is kept secret, sources hint that it will be a comedy movie surrounding the lore behind Santa Claus.
Recently, Johnson posted a behind-the-scenes image from Red One showing him face-off against Krampus.
The photo shows only a part of Krampus’s body and leaves the full reveal for the fans’ speculation. However, it sets up the world of Red One and highlights the different challenges that Johnson will encounter.
The Rock describes Red One as a cross between Hobbs & Shaw and Miracle on 34th Street. The movie will likely be a genre mashup between crime and mystery, with a sprinkle of festive touch, almost like a festive and family-friendly Die hard.
J.K. Simmons will also reinvent the stereotypical image of a bulky and docile Santa, with the old man getting a muscular revamp. Although Johnson’s Callum will appear alongside Santa like a bodyguard, he looks like a Santa who can care for himself.
Johnson’s character in Red One promises to be a typical charismatic hunky guy, something he has always excelled at playing. While this is nothing new, the stellar cast and unique storyline give us a reason to believe that Red One will shake up the market during next holiday season.
While there is no official release date as of yet, it will likely hit Prime Video later this year during the Christmas holidays.
