This is a particularly notable detail because this is not the usual message when Arthur examines or studies a dog in RDR2. Usually, it displays the breed information when studied.

It could also be Catherine Braithwaite’s secret son, who locks up her daughter, who has a mental illness and tells nobody about her existence.
While this seems disturbing, Rufus being a good boy is now canon, and fans are awed by this relatively wholesome inclusion in a game that is otherwise filled with deaths, murder, and violence.
