2. Chapter 1102 Raw Scans

We will delve deep into Kuma’s life and see various important incidents from his perspective in chapter 1102 of One Piece titled “The Life of Kum.”

The chapter begins with Bonney pirates searching for Kuma. They reach an island where Kuma is present but leave before she can locate him. Despite knowing Bonney is searching for him, Kuma decides not to meet her.

Kuma visits Vegapunk on Egghead Island during the Enies Lobby incident, where Vegapunk shows Kuma the various Pacifistas under production. Kuma tells Vegapunk that Luffy is Dragon’s son.

The scene moves to Thriller Bark as we see the incident with Kuma’s POV. After the incident, Kuma gets the order to prepare for war against Whitebeard. It is also revealed that during Bonney’s introduction scene in Sabaody, Kuma was also present there, looking at Bonney from outside the restaurant.

Kuma witnesses the Sabaody incident, where Luffy ends up defeated and thinks that the Straw Hat is not ready for the new world yet and is actually the one who might save the world one day.

On Egghead Island, Saturn orders Vegapunk to put a self-destruction device on Kuma. Vegapunk is reluctant to erase Kuma’s consciousness, but Saturn insists on Kuma’s mind getting wiped out.

On his last normal day, Kuma tells Vegapunk to program his mind to protect Thousand Sunny, too, as he wants to see the Straw Hats’ growth. He has so much faith in Luffy because he thinks he is the warrior of liberation, which Kuma used to talk about to Bonney.

Kuma’s life flashes before his life as he pulls out his memories. With tears in his eyes, Vegapunk begins the process of erasing Kuma’s consciousness.

This marks the end of the flashback as we return to the present time on the last page. Kuma’s memory sphere is gone, and Bonney is left crying.

The chapter ends with Kuma’s final message to Bonney, which he tells Vegapunk to pass on to her: “Happy 10th Birthday, Bonney!!!”

3. Chapter 1102 Speculation

Bonney has now escaped Sorbet Kingdom and started her life as a pirate. However, Kuma is getting closer to being a mindless cyborg day by day.

I. Kuma Arrives at Egghead

This entire backstory is a set-up for Kuma to arrive at Egghead and save Bonney. Saturn being there is also the perfect situation since Kuma has faced him since childhood. Unless Kuma gets his memories back, he won’t be the same person Bonney remembers.

II. Bonney’s Powers

After the final panel of Bonney using Distorted Future, she is clearly much stronger than initially assumed. Bonney was nine years old when she used a Gear 3 ability, making her incredibly strong. This ability may be psychological as a part of her Devil Fruit, allowing her to use powers she pictures herself having in the future.

4. Chapter 1101 Recap

Kuma watches Luffy use Gomu Gomu no Axe to destroy some rocks, scaring all the animals. Kuma remembers Dragon saying he was familiar with this land. Luffy is amazed by his new move and announces he will use it against a super-strong enemy with his future crew.

Kuma’s Den Den Mushi starts ringing, and he teleports away before Luffy notices. Luffy feels Kuma’s presence for a split second, but it disappears. Kuma’s mission is to destroy a pirate crew that raided nearby merchants. Kuma takes the merchants to a hospital before finding the pirates.

Kuma asks the pirates to turn themselves in. After realizing Kuma’s strength, the pirates return all the stolen cargo. Kuma still writes letters to Bonney, but she hasn’t received any of them. Alpha has been intercepting the newspapers and letters, giving Bonney only the paper while tearing up the letters.

One day, Alpha comes into the room to give Bonney her medicine. Alpha finds Bonney sitting on top of Gyogyo, who asks Conney why they are silent about Bonney’s powers. Meanwhile, Vegapunk has removed his brain and lifted it into the air. Kuma asks what will happen once he loses his individuality.

Vegapunk tells Kuma that he may harm anyone if he’s ordered to. However, Kuma still has one more year until the procedure is complete. Kuma writes more letters, telling Bonney how much he loves her. It is Bonney’s ninth birthday, and she hasn’t received the letter.

Six months later, all the Sapphire Scales have disappeared from Bonney’s body. Kuma leaves the Revolutionary Army suddenly, refusing to explain why. Alpha refuses to let Bonney outside, saying she must wait till her 10th birthday. However, that day has already passed. Conney realizes that Alpha is a government agent, making her suspicious.
