Jujutsu Kaisen  Chapter 254: Release Date, Speculation, Read Online

In Chapter 253 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the intense fight between Maki and Sukuna continued as both parties exchanged blows non-stop. Sukuna attacked Maki using the falling debris as cover, but thanks to her unmatched reflexes, he dodged all the attacks. Ino and Kusakabe came to help her, and even though Kusakabe managed to get a hit, it didn’t do much to Sukuna.

Thankfully, this distraction bought Maki enough time to recover from the aftershock of Sukuna’s punch. However, this didn’t last long as Maki went down with a black flash from Sukuna. Now, everything lies in Kusakabe’s hands. Choso is missing from the battlefield, and Hakari is preoccupied. Can Kusakabe hold off Sukuna till someone else arrives, if there’s someone left, that is.

3. Chapter 254 Speculation

I. Fate of the World

With the way the recent chapter ended, everyone who stayed back to fight Sukuna lost, and Kusakabe was the only one standing. Higuruma and Kashimo are dead, Yuta and Yuji are brutally injured, and unless some miracle takes place, they will most likely be unable to fight any longer. Ino took a direct hit from Sukuna, and Maki went down with a black flash, so their status is unknown right now.

Kusakabe said Mei Mei wasn’t gonna join the fight, but Ui Ui was there helping them out for some reason. This doesn’t confirm her future involvement, but it sure gives some hope to the fans. If she doesn’t, Kusakabe, Choso, and Hakari are the only ones in a fighting condition, but Hakari is occupied with Uraume, and we don’t know where Choso is. It’s safe to say the fate of the world is in Kusakabe’s hands right now.

II. Will Kusakabe be our Savior?

Kusakabe is quite honestly our last line of defense now, and he’s someone who wasn’t given such a huge amount of attention before Sukuna’s revival. After the events of the culling game began, his importance in the story grew exponentially. Still, the question remains about how trustworthy he is in a fight. On the surface, he doesn’t seem like someone who is willing to die just because fighting the villain is his role.

While that is true, it’s also a fact that all the major sorcerers like Nanami, Mei Mei, and even Gojo said that Kusakabe is definitely the strongest first-grade sorcerer. He tends to underestimate his own strength, which is limiting his potential massively. It is possible that while fighting Sukuna, he lets go of those limiters and fights with his full strength, be it because of his desire to stop Sukuna or his desperation to survive.

4. Chapter 253 Recap

The chapter began with a flashback where all the special and first-grade sorcerers were asked who the strongest first grader was, and all of them answered without hesitation that it was Kusakabe. Back to the present, Maki was holding her own against Sukuna very well. The fight dragged on for quite some time at that point. Using the falling debris, Sukuna attacked Maki, but she easily blocked them using her katana as a shield.

Sukuna thrashed Maki inside a building and used a net of slashes on her torso. When he was busy with Maki, Ino suddenly came from behind and tried to use his technique, but unlike Maki, he couldn’t conceal his presence, so Sukuna immediately knew about his arrival. Sukuna used a slash to disrupt Ino’s technique and then kicked him away. After kicking him, he realized Ino wasn’t using Nanami’s 7:3 cursed tool.

By the time he noticed this, Kusakabe had come from above with the tool and attacked Sukuna using the 7:3 cursed technique. Kusakabe was punched away by Sukuna and Maki reentered the fight. She knew if this battle kept on going, then it’d be a big problem even if Yuta recovered. She knew she had to end it. Among all the exceptionally strong sorcerers Sukuna had fought ever since Gojo’s death, Maki, the demon with the heavenly restrictions, was the only one who piqued his interest.

He said that Jujustu is all about skin and blood, while Maki’s power comes from her bones and marrow and that her very existence denies jujutsu. Sukuna also admitted that in all the years he had lived, Maki was the only person who had given him something to prove. As he said this, he hit Maki with a black flash right in her stomach and launched her away. This meant Kusakabe was the only one standing right now, and he had to face Sukuna alone.
