In Episode 8, an unfortunate bicycle accident reopens one of Minato’s old wounds and he had to get admitted to hospital once again. By God’s grace, he is physically alright, but mentally not so much.

He got back his middle school memories but has completely lost all recent memories. Not only that, he is back to his old arrogant attitude that everyone hated.

Will he ever come back to Yamanami High’s water polo team? Or Joe has to find someone new with just a month in his hand? We bring you the latest episode updates of this anime.

Episode 9 Speculation

In Episode 8, Minato will have a hard time figuring who he really is, and where he belongs. Surely there’s no place left for him in Shogakukan, and he won’t settle for Yamanami either.

The situation is pretty dicey for Joe; he is in a dilemma whether to wait for Minato or to search for someone new. They may make another attempt to convince Minato, but I doubt if it will be any helpful.

Going through the video footage that he recorded on his smartphone can be the key to make him remember what a great time he had at Yamanami High in such a short time span.

Episode 8 Recap

In Chapter 8, Minato starts regaining bits and pieces of his lost memories, so he meets to find out what kind of person he really was. She bluntly reveals that Minato used to be a very selfish and arrogant person.

She even narrates to him the story of Ichinose senpai, who left water polo because of Minato’s misbehavior. She can never forgive Minato for what he did, but he didn’t want a talented player like Minato to leave water polo, so she lied to him about their bet.

After knowing about Ichinose senpai, all his memories flood back to him, and he gets shocked when he remembers what a terrible person he has been. He rushes back home but falls from his cycle on his way.

On being taken to the hospital, the doctors reveal that the accident has opened up an old wound and thus, Minato has lost all the memories that he had made in these recent days.

Minato is back to the arrogant personality that he originally had in his middle school days. He regrets not being a part of Shogakukan anymore, so he meets his former coach and requests him to take him back.

However, the coach bluntly refuses, saying that there’s no place for him in Shogakukan anymore. He comes back home annoyed and upset, rudely rejecting Yamanami’s offer of representing them in the tournament.

Will Minato ever get his joyful memories back? Even if he does, will he ever agree to go back to an amateur team like Yamanami? We have to wait for the upcoming episodes to find that out.
