The visual appears to be simple but powerful. The penguin headdress worn by Himari Takakura is displayed beside an illustration of an apple, a recurring trope in the original Penguindrum TV anime series.
The compilation films are set to premiere in 2022, ten years after the original 24-episode anime first aired.
This comes as extremely good news since a crowdfunding campaign to support the film’s production costs raised a whopping 105,192,960 yen (US$957,606) against a funding goal of only 10 million yen.
With his direction of RE: cycle of the PENGUINDRUM, Kunihiko Ikuhara is sure to make us contemplate life, death, and fate once again.
