The iconic actor Sylvester Stallone stars in a superhero film as an actor and producer in the upcoming film Samaritan. Only days before the movie’s premiere on Prime Video, the streaming platform released a new clip from the film where Stallone’s Samaritan gives audiences a taste of his powers.
Though this is not the Rocky actor’s first involvement in a superhero film, having starred in two Guardians of the Galaxy films and voiced King Shark in The Suicide Squad (2021), it is the first where his superhero character is centric to the film.
Samaritan will follow Sam leary, a curious young boy who believes his reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith is a superhero in hiding. And not just any superhero but one who went missing more than two decades ago!
The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Javon Walton, Martin Starr, Moises Arias, Dascha Polanco, Natacha Karam, and Jared Odrick. The film will premiere on the streaming platform on 26 August 2022. The action fantasy is directed by Julius Avery and written by Bragi F. Schut.
Prime Video shared a clip from the film showing off Stallone’s Samaritan against a knife-carrying thug in a lonely alley, where he uses his powers to send the bad guy flying through a car but is exposed to the world by a child.
We can assume that the clip is from an early point of the film, though it is not clear if Walton’s Sam Cleary discovers his neighbor’s secret before the unnamed kid in the short clip.
But the clip has been previously cut and edited to be used in the trailer, so it does not offer any new information except Samaritan’s soft behavior around kids.
The film will premiere on Prime Video on 26th August 2022, and we’ll see the famous action icon in his form again, punching bad guys and saving the world.
